So far, the Neighbourhood Planning Champions Nationwide Network, set up by the Department of Communities and Local Government, comprises of over 80 champions who all have a direct experience of working on a neighbourhood plan, with a good understanding of the process and willing to encourage others to take part in this important community right.
Ponteland’s Neighbourhood Planning Group chairman is one of the 80 champions with the pledge:
To inspire, inform and encourage by supporting, sharing experiences and being a critical friend to other local groups.
Over 1,700 communities representing over 8 million people are now undertaking neighbourhood planning with over 125 having passed a referendum.
